Illustration at Cheltenham is about exploring creative possibilities. You will develop original, creative ideas using new and traditional skills and be given the freedom to apply them. The course aim is that you will become an independent, creative individual able to apply your personal vision within the spectrum of modern media opportunities. Set projects provide a structure and build the development of a disciplined work process. You will respond to briefs, applying your studio skills such as printmaking, life drawing and digital techniques utilising Painter, Illustrator, Photoshop and Flash, in Mac G5 equipped studios. Personal self-initiated projects will help you to develop personal direction and professional awareness of the many possible contexts for your work, such as publishing graphic novels, animation, television, journalism, advertising, comics, design, games, clothing, art prints, the possibilities are limitless.

This course strongly promotes the concept of authorship. You will self publish books, magazines and even graphic novels via the imprint of the course- the Pittville Press. We attend major illustration events such as The London Book Fair, Angouleme BD Festival, and we host the Cheltenham Illustration Awards every year- click on the photos below for more about what we do and where we go.
